Bubble Hockey Defense
Most beginner players don't realize the importance of using the goalie position in dome hockey. It is obviously more fun to focus on scoring goals than it is to block them. However, transitioning from an offensive rod position to the goalie rod will greatly improve your ability to block the shot and stay in the game. Like most table games, having quick reflexes and using a sound strategy will help you beat your opponent.

One effective method of playing defense in bubble hockey is to always be following the puck. This doesn't mean that you should always attack the puck, but spin your men so the hockey sticks are in a position to block a quick shot. Some players only follow the puck with their closest player and this can be devastating when your opponent hits a hard shot or passes it forward past this man. If you make sure you are playing the game with both of your hands and always leave your defenders in the right position, you will maximize your opportunity to block opposing shots and defections.
